KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 -- Datuk Nurul Hidayah Ahmad Zahid and husband Datuk Saiful Nizam Mohd Yusoff will be charged in court on Tuesday (May 5) for violating the Movement Control Order (MCO).
Bukit Aman CID director Datuk Huzir Mohamed in confirming the matter, said the daughter and son-in-law of UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will be prosecuted at a Kuala Lumpur Court.
“The matter has been decided by the Attorney-General’s Chambers,” he told reporters in a press conference at Bukit Aman, today.
Earlier an investigation paper was opened against the duo under Section 269 of the Penal Code by Bukit Aman’s Classified Criminal Investigation Unit (D5) and police have taken their statements on April 24.
Huzir said the investigation paper was referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers and police have received orders to charge them under Regulation 3(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020.
He stressed that no individuals could escape action if found intentionally breaking the country’s laws.
