Covid-19 patient commits suicide at Serdang Hospital

KUALA LUMPUR: A man undergoing treatment for Covid-19 killed himself at the Serdang Hospital on Friday night.
The incident occurred at 7.40pm in a bathroom in ward 7D of the hospital.
It is learnt that the body was discovered by a nurse, who immediately alerted the hospital’s security department.
According to Sepang police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof, the 62-year-old was warded at the hospital at 2.30pm on March 26.
“After receiving the alert (from the nurse), police officers rushed to the scene.
“The officers had to don personal protective equipment (PPE) before analysing the scene from a safe distance,” he said.
Wan Kamarul added that the hospital is arranging the safe removal of the body.
PUTRAJAYA, March 28 -- A patient under investigation (PUI) for COVID-19 was found dead in the toilet of a Serdang Hospital ward yesterday.
Sepang district police chief ACP Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said the body of the 62-year-old male patient was found at 7.40 pm.
"The patient was admitted to the hospital last Thursday and his death was reported to the police at the hospital’s police booth by a nurse.
“The body will be handled by Serdang Hospital and the police have recorded statements from the complainant, hospital nurses, other witnesses and the patient’s next-of-kin,” he said in a statement today.
He said police personnel on duty were also provided personal protective equipment (PPE) to take pictures of the scene, although from a distance.
