KUALA LUMPUR: Three players, two of whom are Malaysian players involved in the first match of the 2021 AFF Suzuki Cup against Cambodia tomorrow,tested positive for COVID-19.
This was confirmed personally by Harimau Malaya Team Manager, Datuk Wira Yusof Mahadi.

He explained that the two players of the Malayan Tigers team were the striker, Faisal Halim and the goalkeeper, Khairul Azhan Khalid
Meanwhile, another player who tested positive is a Myanmar player.
"Both players are still staying in the same hotel, quarantined in their own rooms separately.
They're still staying in the same hotel as the other players. It's just that these people are quarantined and can't get out of the room.

style="background-color: #990000; color: white;">"When these players are found to be positive, they need to follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) set by the ministry of health here. They direct these players through a 10-day quarantine," he said
Commenting on the country's squad preparations for the match against Cambodia tomorrow, he said the activities and smooth running of the planned programme would not be disrupted and run normally.
"Apart from these two quarantined players, our activities besides that are not interrupted.
"This means that the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) allows us to undergo training as usual.
"The program is running as usual and for tomorrow's match, these two players cannot be listed. The rest will be determined tomorrow.
Earlier, FAM confirmed two players of the Malayan Tigers squad to the 2020 AFF Suzuki Cup in Singapore tested positive for COVID-19 after the results of the PCR test conducted at Changi International Airport, last Friday were obtained.
The two players, Khairulazhan Khalid and Faisal Halim, are now ordered to undergo a 10-day quarantine by the authorities in Singapore where their health will be monitored on a daily basis as they have no symptoms.

"If the further test finds that the player has changed his status to negative COVID-19, then they will be allowed to return to the team's activities immediately and be able to play on the remainder of the tournament.
"Even without these two players, Tan Cheng Hoe's squad will continue their first Group B match against Cambodia at Bishan Stadium tomorrow afternoon with the remaining players available after all of them have tested negative for the follow-up tests already performed," informed FAM Secretary-General Mohd Saifuddin Abu Bakar.
