COVID-19: 64 more deaths, 14 BID

This brings the total number of deaths due to the outbreak to 27,329 cases.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH) reported a total of 64 new deaths due to COVID-19 infection as of midnight last night.

This brings the total number of deaths due to the outbreak to 27,329 cases, which is 1.17 per cent of the 2,334,617 COVID-19 positive cases detected in the country.

According to MOH data on the COVIDNOW portal, a total of 14 out of 64 deaths reported occurred outside the hospital (brought-in-dead or BID).

However, the number of deaths reported also includes a number of outstanding cases as some of the deaths occurred a few weeks ago.

The backlog of the case occurred because the process of confirming whether a COVID-19 patient died as a result of the pandemic, was time consuming.

Based on the average number of actual daily death cases over seven days, the mortality trend of COVID-19 patients showed a consistent decline in the total number of fully vaccinated populations as well as those receiving at least one dose of vaccine.

As of yesterday, a total of 65.2 percent of the country's population has received a complete dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 74.9 percent have received at least one dose.
