'Prebet Sapu' film represents Malaysia at Oscars awards - Finas

KUALA LUMPUR: Muzammer Rahman, the feature film 'Prebet Sapu' directed by the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) to represent Malaysia to the 94th Academy Awards (Oscars) is expected to take place in Los Angeles, USA on March 27.
Finas in a statement informed that le Mediator Studio, Kristal Azmir Sdn Bhd and Konda Kondi Studio were sent to compete for the Best International Feature Film category.
His selection to the awards was made by the Finas Film Selection Committee comprising local film industry players of professional and experienced character.
"This is after it went through a detailed evaluation process based on film criteria such as directing, storytelling, cinematography, screenplay, acting, sound batter, music scores, art styling and film editing.
"The selection was also made on the basis of compliance with competition rules set by the organizers themselves," according to the statement.
Finas said the film 'Prebet Sapu', is Muzammer's debut film featuring Amerul Affendi and Mei Fen Lim as the lead.
Also starring in the film were Bront Palarae, Sharifah Amani, Nam Ron, Nadiya Nisaa, Chew Kin Wah, Jay Iswazir, Anas Ridzuan, Roslan Madun and many others.
Finas said that besides the Oscars, the film produced in the black and white concept has also represented Malaysia to various international film festivals including the Udine Far East Film Festival, Italy; Jogja-Netpac Asian Film Festival (JAFF) Indonesia; Toronto Reel Asian Film Festival, Canada; Asian Film Festival Barcelona; Spain and the Innovative International Film Festival in India.
