KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 -- To prevent fake operation permission letters issued by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), such letters are required to carry QR code.
Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department SAC (Operations) SAC M.V. Srikumar M. Nair said the code would be scanned by police at roadblocks to ensure it is authentic.
“When the code is scanned, it will request for a number code which only the police have. When we enter the number code, we will know whether the letter tallies with the letter holder,” he told Bernama when appearing as a guest in Bernama TV’s Ruang Bicara programme here today.
In this regard, he refuted allegations of double standards on interstate and inter-district travel for some individuals or groups as claimed by some quarters.
“PDRM do not look at privileged groups or otherwise...if the document is valid and the evidence is concrete, the application for interstate or district travel would be allowed,” he said.
