appointed as chairman of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) board of directors effective yesterday until April 4, 2024.
In a statement today, UTM said that Azman’s appointment was to replace Tan Sri Abdul Halim Ali whose tenure has ended early this year.
“Azman is a national icon who is no stranger to the corporate and business world due to his vast experience through various key posts he held in important organisations.
“During his 14 years in Khazanah, namely from June 2004 until July 2018, Khazanah has grown into a leading fund in the region when its net portfolio rose from RM33.3 billion in 2004 to RM115.6 billion in 2017,” the statement read.
The statement added that after Azman retired from Khazanah, he continued to be active in public services, academic and commercial organisations including being appointed as the Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Centre of Development Studies, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.
He currently sits as a member of the Global Future Council on Investing of the World Economic Forum, a member of the Steering Committee of the Global Ethical Finance Forum and on the Finance and Investment Committee of the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies.
