project was suspended in July 2018 by the Pakatan Harapan government due to high costs. Under the revised deal, the cost of the ECRL is cut by about a third to US$11 billion. An auspicious ceremony, complete with fireworks, was held to mark the blasting of one of tunnels in the east coast state of Terengganu.
