SIBU: A 42-year-old auto spare parts dealer suffered head injury and scratches on his body when his four-wheel drive vehicle was hijacked at a petrol kiosk.
The victim has been warded at a private medical specialist centre for treatment.
Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the victim had stopped at a petrol kiosk in Jalan Lanang at about 7.45pm on Thursday (July 11).
"After refuelling his vehicle, he walked to the counter to get the receipt but left the engine running," he said.
A screen grab from the CCTV recording of the petrol kiosk, which had gone viral, shows the suspect, dressed in a black T-shirt and jeans, dashing towards the vehicle and driving it away.
ACP Stanley said the victim gave chase when he realised what had happened.
"He was dragged for three metres as he got hold of his vehicle. He sustained injury on his head. There were also scratches on his body," he said.
The victim will be referred to Sibu Hospital as he had internal bleeding, he added.
"At this moment, we are still trying to identify the suspect," he said.
ACP Stanley said police are now looking for the vehicle with the registration number plate QAA7719U.
