KUALA LUMPUR: The '405' rally that took place here finished one-and-a-half hours early due to bad weather.

Umno Youth chief Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and PAS deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man gave their speeches outside the Sogo shopping complex on Saturday (May 4) here before the rally officially dispersed at 3.30pm.

Dark clouds threatened rain throughout the rally, where participants marched from the Masjid Jamek mosque to the shopping complex.

It began to drizzle as the speeches were being made, and participants were seen taking shelter in surrounding shoplots, while others donned raincoats or took out their umbrellas.

The rally was organised by the Gerakan Pembela Ummah and several non-governmental organisations began at about 2pm and was originally scheduled to finish at 5pm.

Rally organisers earlier said the event was to protest against the Pakatan Harapan government for allegedly sidelining Malays and Muslims on issues pertaining to the Rome Statute, the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Icerd), the Unified Examination Certificate and the death of fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim during the Seafield temple riots in Subang Jaya, among others.
